Faculty Research Grant Award

Completed applications can be submitted via email to or a hard copy during the hours of 8:30am-4:00pm.

Walker Institute Faculty Research Grants:  These awards are intended to assist faculty engaged in international research.  Typical awards might consist of seed money for an exploratory visit to an international destination.  Applicants should explain how the grant will improve their chances of applying for external funding.  Maximum amount:  $4,000. 



  • Faculty receiving Walker awards must submit a detailed accounting of all funds spent after completion of the project.
  • Submit a brief report and several pictures.
  • Any publications resulting from a grant award will acknowledge the support of Walker Institute.
  • Faculty receiving awards should be willing to make a brief presentation (brownbag, panel discussion, etc.) at Walker Institute after concluding the project.

How To Apply

Walker Institute Faculty Awards will be reviewed by a faculty committee, comprised of Associates of Walker Institute.
The deadline for submissions is Friday-November 4, 2016 by 4:00pm for the 2016-2017 Academic Year.  

Application packets for the Education Grants, Conference Travel Grants and International Research Grants should include:

  • A cover letter that indicates the name of the award sought, a brief summary of the project, identifies all participants, and lists the amount of funding sought.
  • A narrative proposal, not to exceed 800 words.
  • A detailed budget for the project that includes any matching funds
  • Current C.V.s of all applicants
  • A letter of endorsement from the Associates’ department chair(s) that includes the departments business manager, and include a commitment of any matching funds
