Title: The Mighty Shall Hear Their Voices: The Southern Negro Youth Congress & the Making of the Modern Civil Rights Movement

“This presentation will explore an international gathering of students who met in Columbia, South Carolina in October 1946.  With speakers including W. E. B. Du Bois and famed singer and activist Paul Robeson, the Southern Negro Youth Congress issued a blueprint for the Modern Civil Rights Movement. Particular attention will be focused on the struggle for civil and human rights in South Carolina.”
